FEDAIA, Federación de Entidades de Atención y de Educación a la Infancia (Federation of Child Care and Education Organisations), is a non-profit organisation that encompasses the largest number of social initiative organisations throughout Catalonia that work with children, teenagers, young people and families who find themselves in a situation of social exclusion or abandonment in Catalonia.

These member organisations of FEDAIA provide care and education services and programs to the most vulnerable members of these groups (children, young people and families) to improve their welfare and encourage social inclusion processes, among other things. Based on comprehensive and community care, on networking and on working closely with the recipients of the services, these organisations play an active role in detecting and preventing any risk situation (personal, social or family). They also act as protectors for those children who find themselves in a situation of risk or abandonment by implementing protective measures that may involve separating the child from its family environment and implementing measures for young people that are aimed at working on their personal independence.

These organisations work on encouraging social inclusion processes, improving their quality of life and defending their rights and welfare through social, political, economic and corporate representation and promotion of the associated members, the analysis of emerging needs and the promotion and undertaking of transforming social action.

In terms of children and families who find themselves in at-risk situations, FEDAIA is the leading social agent in Catalonia. Its work receives the support, cooperation and recognition of the various third sector organisations and of the various competent public authorities.
